![]() ![]() They can make great pets, but they can also be quite an investment. I highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway for a group of couples or a work retreat.Birds are fascinating creatures that come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Also, Garth (one of the dogs on the property) will keep an eye on you to make sure you don't stray too far or get too much attention from a donkey. The views are stunning and there are a number of trails that give you an opportunity to see things much more closely. So, if you want to shop for antiques, listen to music, stuff your face with comfort food or visit a distillery, you can do so by taking a short drive. There are a number of sights to see in close proximity to NBR. In the morning, they'd bring in breakfast and happily share stories about the property, their experiences in maintaining it, their life adventures and anything else you asked about. ![]() We especially loved the animals on the property who had become quite adept at figuring out whether or not you had food that you were willing to share. In spite of that, I found NBR to be a quaint and comfortable little place with great scenery and just the right amount of exposure to mother nature. I will readily admit that I'm a city-boy to the core and time spent anywhere that the wildlife outnumbers the people can sometimes make me a little anxious. I had no idea where we were going as we left Houston on 290. My wife literally snuck me out here for a weekend to celebrate my birthday. Next time you make a trip to Round Top you should check out The Round Top Inn or The Prairie where you can get a feel for the country without actually having to deal with the country. We don't have concrete or telephone poles or traffic, we do have dirt, and mud and cows and wild boar and ponds of fish and even the occasional snake. I believe that enjoying travel is all about expectations, that's why I mention in my description that we are rustic and at the end of a mile and a half long dirt road and our slogans are "The Adventure Begins where the Blacktop ends" and "We're not your grandma's B&B". I keep a lost and found box of things people leave but I don't have the time to track down and call each guest who forgets something. As I mentioned in the email about your charger, my husband and I had both had the flu for over a week and got very behind in a lot of our work and getting your charger out in the mail got lost in the shuffle. The lovely breakfast you had was at our other business in Round Top, Teague's Tavern and I'm very glad you enjoyed it. The stepping stones over the puddle may wiggle but do not sink and even in June of 2016 when we had a 500 year flood everyone could make it to the dining hall. In the three years we've run this B&B we have never had a single complaint about our beds so I really don't understand why you were so uncomfortable. We would have also loved a little more yoga but we knew going in that we should expect four sessions.…Īs you can see, this is my first negative review also. A basic map of the property would have also been helpful so that we felt more comfortable taking a self-guided walk. Also, would have loved a little more variety in the breakfast and dinner menus and a more engaging hike around the ranch property Saturday morning. We and several guests had to ask a couple of times what the plan was for the day/evening. That being said, we wished that there had been a printed itinerary in our room so that we knew what to expect for the weekend upon arrival. Our yoga retreat at Night Bird Ranch was exactly what we expected based on the retreat info on. Overall, our retreat experience was very good and we had a great time. Kiki was a lot of fun to talk with and really kept meal-time conversations light and engaging. Also, the ranch owners, Kiki and Don, are super friendly and accommodating. ![]() Jordan, our teacher, was very friendly, supportive, and had a peaceful but fun energy about her. Yoga practice was as promised - vinyasa style and four one-hour sessions provided (one Friday evening, one Saturday morning and one in the evening, and one Sunday morning). We enjoyed the yoga studio/dining room/common area space and the conversation with other yogis after breakfasts and dinners. Our accommodations were quaint, as my friend and I expected, and functional with two twin beds, a small private en suite bathroom with shower, and an A/C unit that kept the room cool and comfortable throughout the weekend. It's off the beaten path, there's space to roam, animals happily hanging out, and the conversation is good. The Night Bird Ranch is a perfect place to escape and relax. ![]() Planet Hollywood Cancun, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort.Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All-Inclusive Resort.Hotels near Lake Somerville State Park - Nails Creek Unit. ![]()
